Looks isn't everything: Auto Makinon MC Zoom 1:4.5 80-200mm

Cost: $19.99 (average market price $24)

At first glans, this is a sold feeling, good looking lens with smooth handling and nice built-in hood. On second glans, you feel that the zoom barrel is kind of wobbly and you start expecting that build quality is not as good as it looks.

Image quality is on the low end. Soft, almost with a halo effect, on the long end. And never reaching it's potential in the rest of the range. Some color fringing and chromatic aberration.

And, as a first, the aperture stops are missing the 5.6 stop, as it goes from 4.5 directly to 8.

So not much good to say about this lens. When you see it at a good price, keep walking. There are far better zoom lenses available for a equally small price.
