FOCAL
Focal was the the Kmart house brand for photographic products appear. Kmart was a chain of "big box" discount stores based in the United States and launched in 1962.
Focal cameras and accessories were typically rebranded products from major manufactures such as Haking and Cosina. The lenses were made by a variety of third parties from Japan, Korea (likely Samyang).
Focal was also the house brand for still and cine films manufactured by Ansco, GAF or 3M Ferrania. The Focal name also appears on some stray items such as opera glasses and even a home barometer.
The Focal branding slowly disappeared in the 1990s, and it was last seen on 35mm film. After much corporate turmoil the chain acquired Sears in 2005, but the merged holding company continued to struggle in a difficult market for brick-and-mortar retail. After a 2019 reshuffle, almost all Kmart-branded locations were closed down.
