Itoh Kogaku (or Itoh Engineering) was a Japanese company that, starting in the 1950's, specialized in grinding and finishing of lens elements for glasses or 3rd party lenses. Around 1960,for a short time, they sold some of their own completely finished lenses under the "Higon" brand. As not to many of these lenses were sold, it's difficult to establish the complete list of lenses that were manufactured, but it seems the list included at least a 35mm, 200mm and a 400mm and a 100-200mm zoom. None of them are currently regarded as high quality lenses, but they are fairly rare.
The company actually still exists, and is still in grinding and coating of lenses, aside from other optical products. The name however has changed to Itoh Optical Industrial.

Hi, I'm currently playing with contemporaneous lenses for a mid-50s Exakta, I managed to pick up fairly cheaply (for me, under $25) an early Higon 300mm f5.6 telephoto . I've not yet tried it on my Nikon D300 but it is a nice looking lens , preset with a 12 blade iris diaphragm. I found a 200mm f4.5 on fleabay for nearly 10 times the price of the 300mm. Vanity projects can only go so far :-)
