Tokina Co., Ltd

      
Tokina Co., Ltd is a Japanese lens maker, established in Shinjuku, Tokyo in 1950 as Tokyo Optical Equipment Manufacturing. Early lenses were marked with Tokyo Koki. The company originally made lenses for other companies and in the early 1970's the company began selling lenses under it's own brand name, Tokina. 

The company was acquired in 1999 by Kenko. Kenko also purchased optical glass manufacturer Hoya, whose glass was used by Tokina Optical. The combined company is now known as Kenko Tokina Co., Ltd.
