Mamiya

Mamiya is a prestigious Japanese high-end camera and lens manufacturer. The company was founded in 1940 in Tokyo by camera designer Seiichi Mamiya and achieved fame for its professional medium-format film cameras. Although they are mainly known for their medium format cameras, they also produced 35mm film and digital cameras. Many Mamiya models over the past six decades have become collectors' items.

In 2006, the camera and optical business transferred to Mamiya Digital Imaging Co., Ltd. and in 2009, the Danish high-end camera company Phase One became a major stake holder . In 2012 Mamiya Leaf was created by merging Mamiya and Leaf Imaging, offering a complete medium-format digital camera system.

The classic camera and lenses made by Mamiya still have quite a number of fans, as its products are reputed to be of high quality, both in terms of optics and craftsmanship and are often collected and rare to find.
