Little is known of Komine's history or origin, aside that they manufactured Vivitar lenses and were located in Japan. The earliest product identified was a tripod head stamped Komine and "Made in Occupied Japan" between 1947 and 1951. Most researchers believe that Vivitar lenses with serial numbers starting 28x were Komine-made.
