And here we go with another Yashica ML lens. This time the 50mm 1:1.9... a true basic nifty fifty. again a small lens that almost looks to small on the Sony A7II.
Build quality is nice with clear lettering, and both zoom and aperture are smooth to use. Easy to focus so not to many misses...
Image quality is nice, with very rich contrast-full colors and little color aberration. With just above average sharpness, it's not the best lens on the block, but I can hold itself compared to better known and more expensive brands.
It is hard to believe that many photographers are willing to pay big bucks for a lens that is 4 times the size and weight and not gaining that much on quality. I'm looking forward to play with other Yashica 50mm DL lenses (the 1:2 version will be reviewed next)...
Yashica DSB lenses are single coated, ML lenses are multi coated (ML stands for Multi-Layer) and were later renamed as MC for Multi Coated. Contrary to the quality jump from DSB to ML, there is no distinguishable quality difference between ML and MC lenses.
